Event Details

 Raw BusinessSchool is a face to face networking event that combines business networking with business education. So many businesses fail because many Entrepreneurs lack the necessary knowledge and business skills required to help them navigate, at times, perilous and unforgiving journey of being in business. If Entrepreneurs knew what they would have to give up in pursuing their dreams before they started, would they have actually started their business? Raw Business School can have an impact on business success rates by providing a unique opportunity for Entrepreneurs and business owners to build an extended support network of like-minded people whilst gaining valuable skills.


We already have a number of  Network members who have put themselves forward to act as a Raw Business School Leader and during the next three months we plan to have up to 20 ES locations across the UK with Chelmsford being the ES HQ.

We welcome you to join us at the Raw Business School Guildford and experience something fresh and exciting which will add real value to your business.

After the Guest Speaker has finished - the Attendees then get a chance to plan the improvements for a "mythical company's website".  There is a (modest) prize for the winner, as adjudged by the Speaker and the RBSE School Leader.

 

N.B.  Over the year, each Workshop winner becomes eligible to be assessed as the “Entrepreneur of the Year” for the Raw Business School at Guildford.

About the Speaker - Peter Richman


Peter Richman is the MD and Creative Director of Plug and Play Design Ltd.  Peter is young (24 y/o) local businessman and entrepreneur from Godalming, Surrey. As a keen graphic designer through college, he realised very early that websites were a must-have for most business and longed to start his own web marketing company.

With his flair for business, the design agency Plug and Play was formed in 2007. Peter began by producing small items such as business cards and printing, but quickly became well known for his high standards of quality and service, and was asked to design brands and build websites for SMEs.

As with any start-up company, Peter had to fulfil all the job roles that a successful company needs: Head of Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Finance and Design; also Technical Support, Production, Customer Care and HR.  Plug and Play now has eight permanent staff and Peter has recently sold his first franchise in Southampton, making Plug and Play the first true web design franchise company in the UK.

Plug and Play specialises in digital marketing, designing websites, developing branding, managing e-commerce and printing for national and regional companies such as Red Bull, Bowmore Whisky and livinginsurrey.co.uk.  Peter has built Plug and Play into a national franchise operation. In the next 12 months, he has even more ambitious growth plans, aiming to double the company’s size and opening three more franchises in the next three months.

In his spare time, Peter has been playing rugby for Guildford RFC (but injuries have limited this Season’s appearances).  Peter also admits to playing rock music on the guitar, albeit “rather badly” – which quite honestly is probably the same as many rock groups, so at least Peter has an alternative Career …

N.B.  Be warned !  Whilst he was exploring his dreams of owning his own business, Peter took a job straight from college as a Fingerprint Recognition Officer for Surrey Police in Guildford, dealing with every type of crime (including serial murder cases).  However, after attending one crime scene too many with Surrey Police, Peter decided it was time to begin following his real passion, and so “Plug and Play” came into being.

Entrepreneur School Leader

Peter HArtleyWith a BSc in Physics from Imperial College, Peter started in Business as a Graduate Engineer, collecting various post-Graduate Certificates and an MSc in his spare time. Peter spent some 37 years in corporate business, spanning most roles from basic Design and Development through to Test, Production, etc, before moving into Systems and Programme Management, including Contract Negotiations. The opportunities to travel around the world, supporting Marketing and networking with a variety of Clients, were used by Peter to great advantage. Having reached Cabinet level and 4* level contacts (which he still maintains), he finally left international corporate business  (with more than £250M Orders to his credit) and took the Independent route, achieving the success and the work/leisure balance he wanted, with a Science and Technology Consultancy company (with involvement in Special Interest Groups and the UK Ministry of Defence) and a separate Business Consultancy company (Hartley Consultancy).

This growing Business Consultancy, which Peter offers in conjunction with Entrepreneur School, is intended to provide support to others, whether via Tuition, CVs, Documentation, ICT and Websites, Assistance to find Investors, Commercial Analysis, Business Planning and Reviews, and much more.

Peter is currently working with Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to achieve major contracts (in excess of GB£40M) with the Primes; he  also sets up complete Internet-based business packages, including items such business plans and virtual offices, as Turnkey systems (such as the one he is completing for a Farmer who wants to sell meat products directly to the public).  He also provides 'worthy individuals' with winning CVs, sets up good quality websites, and still makes time for some Tuition* work.

Hobbies: Peter’s hobbies include most Countrysports, such as fly-fishing (when he can catch the flies!) and breeding and working his gundogs.  His garden is a place of continuous repair (dog damage) and re-design (inspiration), and he is now seeking a new house for yet another development project.

Raw Business School For Entrepreneurs

Raw Business School For Entrepreneurs is the Face To Face Networking and Business Education centre from Raw Business which includes an online network, offering free and life time memberships to Entrepreneurs, Business owners and aspiring Entrepreneurs as well as a monthly business publication.

Raw Business Network acts as a hub for exchanging information between members who use the Raw membership database, live chat and online seminars to expand their contact base and build lasting business relationships whilst offering general business support for Entrepreneurs and business owners, both established and aspiring. Members can use the Raw Business Network forums for ongoing business support and promote their services to other members.

Raw Business was the brain child of Bradley Chapman who has had many years of business experience and has enjoyed both the ups and downs of being in business. Like many business owners and entrepreneurs, Bradley has seen his fair share of adversity and continues to fight for UK Entrepreneurs and their businesses.

Raw Business now has thousands of members and has successfully launched Raw Business School from their Chelmsford Head Office.
Raw Business also has a business publishing arm and has now successfully publishes on line and printed editions of their business and entrepreneur magazine titled Raw Business Magazine which features interviews with high profile entrepreneurs such as Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard, Max Clifford and Levi Roots whilst focusing on grass roots businesses and entrepreneurs through  topical editorial and its regular columnists and contributors who are specialists in their field offering advise and support.

Raw Business have started designing their global website which should be ready for an early 2010 launch with the aim of positively bringing the Global Entrepreneurial Business Community together, engaging International Trading and encouraging World Wide Entrepreneurial Innovation.
The aim of Raw Business School is to combine face to face networking within a business education so that start-ups and established businesses can gain full and comprehensive knowledge about being in and running a business as well as  what it takes to be successful, learning and meeting new contacts that they can utilise along their journey.
